Pixel Scaling - Conclusions

  1. The pixel structure described above works well at 2.2µm pixel pitch.
  2. The received power decreases when the pixel size is decreased to 1.45um especially for the Active central region of the pixel.
  3. The received power decreases dramatically when the pixel size is decreased to 0.97um and the Spatial (Optical) crosstalk increases enormously.
  4. This 0.97um pixel structure is un-useable at 0.97µm due to low received power and enormous crosstalk to the adjacent pixel.
  5. Advanced light guiding structures are needed to enable continued scaling of the pixel from 1.45nm to 0.97nm.
