Appendix III About the Spectrophotometer
The spectrophotometer used to make the measurements in this report was a PR-650 SpectraColorimeter designed by Photo Research, Inc. This PR-650 a portable point-and-shoot spectrophotmeter. The Photo Research company website contains a description of the PR-650 which can be accessed here. The PR-650 has many image measurement and storage capabilities, and can be connected to computers through an RS-232 cable. In this experiment, the PR-650 measured spectral radiances over a range of wavelengths between 380 nm and 780 nm. Since it acquired 101 points between these frequencies, the data was taken at a wavelength resolution of roughly 4 nm. The PR-650 was mounted on a tripod during this experiment. The data files were stored in it during the measurements and later transferred onto a computer.
