Abstract
Three separate experiments were designed to obtain
quantitative measures of the quality of 3 different digital photo printing
services: Wal-Mart, Costco, and Fotki. The experiments were designed to test
color resolution, color contextual behavior, and spatial frequency
reproduction. Original test images were designed using Matlab scripts and
Photoshop and submitted to each of the companies for printing. The prints were
then scanned and analyzed using original Matlab image analysis scripts. The
results are presented and conclusions are reached concerning the relative quality
of the 3 different printing services.
