Our intuition on using Bilateral filters was right. It was able to enhance the edges without amplifying the noise. This was due to its ability to distinguish between them. The images we posted in the following fashion. 1. 128 x 128 size image with noise. 2. Scaled image for the corresponding option chooses a.) Simple b.) With Edge Detection c.) Bilateral filtering.
Results:
You can see from the demonstration showed in the previous page, that using a bilateral filter gives us the best scaled image.
