General Experimental Procedures
First, the power spectral densities of the filters and the ambient lighting were measured using the PR650 spectroradiometer. To obtain PSDs for the filters separately, the combined PSDs of each filter and light source were recorded and divided by that of the light source alone. This was performed for the 7 high-quality filters (6 colors + Daylight) and the12 cellophane filters. Most of these responses are plotted on the web page. These response are then multiplied by the spectral response of the imager, which was measured earlier (by others) during sensor characterization. This spectral response was rescaled to the sampling interval and range of the obtained PSDs. Finally, each set of filtered multicaptured images were taken using the Digital Pixel Sensor chip developed by Kleinfelder, et al. and the associated hardware and software system developed by Ercan and Xiao. The specific details and obstacles for each experiment are described here.
