Experiments 3
This was actually the first experiment carried out. The aforesaid experiments were performed after obtaining poor quality images with these filters. For this experiment the PSDs of the 12 Bogen cellophane filters were measured multiple times to ensure accurate representation. The light source used, although strong enough to illuminate the scene adequately, unfortunately contained a large amount of power in the IR range. This may have contributed to the errors in the resulting color images since spectral power in the IR range could be mapped erroneously to the visible light spectrum when solving for the surface reflectance functions. Furthermore, these filters had responses which were quite correlated with one another as the following singular values show:
[14.53 4.30
3.37 1.54 1.15
0.69 0.52 0.43
0.21 0.20 0.10
0.065].
For this experiment the filtered images were captured using a total exposure time of 54 ms and 18 uniformly spaced samples. Dynamic range was extended 6 dB at the high illumination end. Relevant results and plots are shown in the presentation.
