Median Interpolation
According to the median algorithm, the missing color information at
each pixel is estimated by the median of its surrounding pixels of
that particular missing color. For example, for a pixel location
containing red information only, the missing green value is estimated
by the median of the four (except on borders) neighboring green pixel
values, and the missing blue value by the median of the four adjacent
blue pixel values. Note that neighboring can be horizontal, vertical, or
diagonal. Red and blue pixels have similar geometry. For green
pixels, the missing blue information is estimated by the median (or
average) of the two (except possibly on the borders) adjacent blue
pixel values, likewise for the missing red information.
